MIDO launches PVD multifunctional rose gold watch
Every era has its own unique consciousness and challenges. In 1929, with the popularisation of industrial design, streamlined design began to emerge, becoming a turning point for many brands. Aerodynamics also became an industry focus. At the same time, steel was widely used, and breakthrough processing techniques made the appearance of products at that time look both rigid and soft, and magnificent.
Under the leadership of Georges Schaeren, Mido engineers and technicians developed the Multifort collection in 1934. Reliable, robust, durable, and highly attractive, these features made it synonymous with precision and high quality as soon as it hit the market. This is why American soldiers were proud to own this watch, some even writing to Mido's Swiss headquarters to express their satisfaction. These letters can still be found in the Mido archives today.
The new Multifort collection recreates the unique watchmaking culture of that era through the assembly of an ETA 7750 multifunctional movement, exquisite details, and ingenious features, fully embodying the qualities that a multifunctional chronograph should possess. With a dial diameter of 44 mm, a thickness of 14.5 mm, and a water resistance of up to 100 metres, these features make the new Multifort stand out immediately among many watches, and it also has high achievements in aesthetic quality. Under the sapphire crystal, the dial decorated with Geneva stripes or wave patterns interprets the concept of streamlining. The outstanding work of the Mido design department draws fully on the shape of the side of a steam locomotive, and its fixing rivets are also reproduced on the watch's indices. The further use of Super-LumiNova luminescence technology makes the time on the dial clearer and easier to read, even at night.
Luxury watch enthusiasts can also enjoy the high-quality automatic winding movement through the mineral crystal embedded in the case back, enjoying the powerful rhythm of the mechanical operation. They will surely marvel at the oscillating weight decorated with Geneva stripes, blued screws, and fine circular graining.
