HUBLOT unveils new Baselworld release: Key of Time

In an article previously introduced to you, we already discussed somematters related to tourbillon design, consistent inside and out. This time, we are introducingHublota masterpiece of fine watchmaking. To welcome the 2011 Basel event, the powerful "MP-02 Key of Time" has appeared in the watch world, giving you the feeling of having time in your hands!

　　With the birth of digital civilisation, abundant information has, in a sense, replaced the abundance of physical materials. Today's world is full of various resources, sometimes even appearing chaotic, and caught in the middle of it, we also face a continuous influx of information. In an instant, we can experience a huge emotional rollercoaster, shifting from fascination to worry, and from jubilation to sorrow. Amidst this infinite abundance, what remains an elusive ultimate goal that is perpetually scarce? It is time itself. Often defined as the true luxury of our era, time remains an abstract concept: sometimes passing instantaneously like a galloping horse, and at other times seeming endless.

　　So, what if a watch could use its own mechanical device to grant you the ability to control the passage of time according to your own wishes, truly mastering your own time? This mechanism, which drives the MP-02Key of Time, gives you the power to "adjust" the passage of each hour and minute to your liking via a crown with three different positions.

　　Position 1: If you want to thoroughly savour every second of the passage of time: you can slow down the speed of the watch hands, dividing time by four, so that a normal hour is displayed on the MP-02Key of Time as just a quarter of an hour.

　　Position 2: If you want "real" time: by choosing the normal hand speed, you maintain "normal" time, and a standard hour is still displayed as one hour on the MP-02Key of Time.

　　Position 3: If you wish for time to pass a little faster: you can speed up the hands, multiplying time by four, so that a usual quarter of an hour appears as a full hour on the MP-02Key of Time.

　　Therefore, with the Key of Time, the wearer can prolong pleasant moments fourfold or shorten arduous moments fourfold, whilst retaining the right to return to normal time at any moment. Three distinct indicators are arranged in a star shape on the dial to show the current time speed, avoiding any confusion. You can certainly set this complicated mechanism to position 1 or 3, and then simply adjust it back to position 2 to see the hands reset to the normal time display. This function is achieved through a true "mechanical memory" device within the movement. In addition to this extraordinary complication, the MP-02Key of Time also features a vertically operating flying tourbillon cage with a seconds indicator fitted on its edge, making it stand out with distinction.

    With the new Basel Key of Time, you can control your subjective and objective time, which not only enhances your joyful moments but also brings more fun to your life. What we inherently lack is the ability to control time.
