Guiding You on How to Prevent Moisture Ingress in Watches

The ingress of moisture will cause the steel parts inside the watch movement to rust, and long-term dampness will also cause the dial and hands of the watch to discolour, blister, and corrode. Once tiny watch parts rust, they usually need to be replaced, and future repair costs can be substantial.

If a mechanical watch has been affected by moisture, you can place cotton over thewatchsurface and bake it with an incandescent light bulb for 5 minutes to evaporate the moisture.

If a quartz watch has been affected by moisture, you can take several pieces of calcium chloride wrapped in gauze, place them together with the opened electronic watch into an airtight plastic bag or glass jar, seal it tightly, and the moisture can be removed after 3 hours.
