It was founded in Paris at RueMontorgueil31 by Louis-François Cartier in 1847. In 1874, his son Alfred Cartier took over the management, and it was later developed into a world-renowned brand by his grandsons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques Cartier. The Cartier curved wristwatch, one of the earliest pilot's watches, originated from a longing for the freedom of flight. Louis Cartier’s close friend, the wealthy Brazilian Alberto Santos-Dumont, was also a famous aviator. At a gathering in Paris, Dumont mentioned to his friend Cartier the difficulty of reading the time easily while flying and sought a solution. After much reflection and research, Louis Cartier created this revolutionary Santos pilot's watch.watchFollowing the stunning debut of this pilot's watch named after his friend in 1904, which featured an unprecedented concept and design, Dumont achieved a flight record in 1907, breaking the previous record of 220 metres in 22 seconds. As he stepped off his "14bis" aircraft, onlookers witnessed him checking the watch on his wrist. From then on, admirers all longed to own such a watch, marking the beginning of Cartier’s journey in crafting exquisite high-end timepieces. For over a century, the Cartier curved watch has witnessed the evolution of the era, remaining timeless. Its highly contemporary geometric design, curved square corners, and signature lugs marked the first interpretation of the Art Deco style in watchmaking. It was fitted with a leather strap, which was rare in the watch industry at the time. Notably, its unique screw decoration, under Cartier’s distinctive aesthetic design, became more than just a functional component; it became part of the avant-garde style. The Cartier Pasha watch was the world's first waterproof watch, born in the mid-1930s. Pasha represents a prince—full of noble glory and symbolizing perseverance. Rolex designed this watch specifically for the Pasha of Marrakesh, who loved swimming. The watch is robust, sturdy, features a large dial, and carries a military-style aesthetic, designed with a protective grid over the crystal and a uniquely shaped crown cap, exuding masculinity. 1980 years later, as women also began to favour the Pasha, Cartier launched a new model with a diamond grid: the Pasha de Cartier women's collection. Its rounded shape is like warm sunshine, with full Arabic numerals and a touch of rounded sensuality. The silver sunray-brushed lacquered dial resembles traces kissed by the sun, paired with wide white gold, yellow gold, or rose gold cases and leather straps, further accentuating a sense of unrestricted, free-spirited elegance. Dazzling diamonds either rest quietly around the bezel or dance gorgeously on the grid, reaching the height of brilliance. The Cartier Pasha collection presents a concept of freedom and leisurely enjoyment; wearing it feels like being on a tropical island, savouring the atmosphere of a holiday under the sun and sea breeze, bringing me eternal enjoyment and surprise.
