TAG Heuer Monza Watch wins Best Re-issue Watch at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève
Jack Heuer, Honorary Chairman of TAG Heuer and designer of the original 1976 Heuer Monza, took the stage to accept this prestigious award at the invitation of Mr Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and President of the LVMH Group Watch Division.

The Heuer Monza chronograph creates a classic anew—the ultimate re-edition of an iconic watch, paying tribute to the rich history of the Heuer Monza over 40 years (1976–2016).
In 1976, as official timekeeper for Ferrari (1971-1979), Jack Heuer, great-grandson of the Swiss avant-garde watchmaker's founder, designed a unique chronograph—the Heuer Monza chronograph—to celebrate Niki Lauda's first World Championship win driving for Ferrari. This marked the very first time the Monza name appeared on a watch dial.

At the time, this watch was regarded as a model of unconventional, stylish design. Its cushion-shaped case was inspired by the 1925 original model, featuring an all-black chronograph layout paired with a pulsometer (heart rate scale), tachymeter scale (converting time to speed), and red hands and sub-dials that proudly highlighted its motor racing heritage, ushering in a brand-new era for the evolution of this timepiece.
Exquisite timepiece, timeless classic
The newly introduced re-edition incorporates two key features of the collection—the pulsometer and tachymeter scales (neither of which was present on previous re-issues)—and retains the original typography, returning faithfully to the source design.

The famous original cushion-shaped case serves as the central component; the all-black case recreates the original classic style while incorporating the black and white lacquered hour and minute hands of the vintage model. Vintage orange SuperLuminova luminescence hour markers adhere to the original design. The dial features the historic Heuer logo, highlighting the position of this timepiece in the brand's heritage collection.
As a symbol of heritage and future, the case of the Heuer Monza chronograph is crafted from 5 grade titanium (previously stainless steel), making the watch lighter with superior shock resistance. The titanium carbide coating gives the case a matte black finish, projecting a powerful presence.

The case diameter has also been increased from the original 39 mm to 42 mm, exuding a modern and masculine appeal. Fitted with a super-racing style full-grain black calfskin strap, the contrast stitching subtly recreates the three-spoke steering wheel design seen on classic racing cars of the era.
The chronograph is equipped with a Calibre 17 automatic movement, with two chronograph sub-dials positioned at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock respectively; the perfectly spaced design achieves a unique sense of harmonious beauty. The screw-in case back is engraved with a serial number and the classic HEUER logo, finished with red lacquer to add a distinctive detail.
The original Heuer Monza chronograph is highly sought after by watch collectors, with very few replica versions in existence. The design of the new watch stays true to the original and serves as a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the watch's launch. Undoubtedly, the Heuer Monza chronograph is set to become another milestone in TAG Heuer's heritage.
