Which are better, Omega or Rolex watches?
Omega watchwithRolex watchesWhich is better? Estimatedly, many people cannot answer right away, as opinions vary. Let's discuss the differences between Omega and Rolex below to help you judge for yourself which is better.
I. Craftsmanship
Starting with the exterior craftsmanship, Rolex's workmanship is truly beyond reproach. Whether it is the case or the hands, they are very classic and full of unique Rolex elements, which is more refined than most Omega watches. That said, not many people care about such minor details. Regarding materials, 904 steel has various rumors that leave people unsure what to believe, but based on my wearing experience, the wear resistance of 904 is not necessarily better than 316 steel, and corrosion resistance... I feel I don't have much say in this without wearing it for three to five years.

II. Movement
Turning to the movement, Omega's lineup is rather mixed. 2500 spoiled the broth; Omega in the era of ETA and FP movements was nowhere near as infamous as it became after adopting the immature Co-Axial escapement. The sudden stopping issue of 2500a b is indeed widespread and not an isolated case. However, by 2500c it happens very rarely, and 2500d should have completely eradicated it. Some models currently on sale still use 2500d, and Omega presumably won't shoot itself in the foot again. As some classmates mentioned above, the 8500 movement is thick because it strives for 3135; other aspects are harder to compare, so relying on a long power reserve is one strategy, which naturally makes the barrel thicker. 8500 seems to have a decent reputation in recent years; early versions lacked a silicon hairspring, but later ones added it, so accuracy should be better.
Rolex doesn't need much elaboration; there are piles of articles, mostly praising it. Just one saying: Rolex is not a god either, 3135 has always had rotor rubbing issues, though it seems to have been improved in recent years.

III. Marketing
Even the best products need good marketing, and no matter how well a watch is made, without proper promotion it will struggle. Omega's marketing approach is overly flashy, which is a key reason why it has always felt inferior to Rolex. Dealing with parallel imports, where a ladies' diamond-set De Ville priced at over one hundred thousand RMB domestically can be picked up for under thirty thousand, just makes you chuckle. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, there is a swordsman who puts on a very impressive and flashy display with a large saber, only for Indiana Jones to simply pull out a gun and shoot him down. That is rather how I feel about Omega going up against Rolex.
