Why do Chinese people love Rolex watches so much?
In China, even if you are not into watches, you certainly know Rolex. Reliability, precision, and durability are Rolex's brightest labels. If someone asks you which watch brand is good, I believe most Chinese people, especially those "a bit older" like the editor, will blurt out Rolex, Omega, and Longines. Rolex is foremost among them.Rolex watchesWhy is it so deeply rooted in the hearts of Chinese people?

1, Sentiment
Rolex was one of the earliest Swiss luxury watch brands to enter the Chinese market and an early brand recognised by the Chinese public. I believe many people grew up watching Young and Dangerous and were deeply impressed by Rolex. The term "big gold Rolex" frequently rang in our ears. If someone bought a big gold Rolex, nearby neighbours and residents would run over to take a look, becoming a talking point after meals for the next few months.
2, Quality
For Rolex to have such a good reputation in China, sentiment alone is certainly not enough; exquisite craftsmanship and quality are also the main reasons. All Rolex movements are assembled and tested by hand, and Rolex's headquarters in Switzerland houses multiple laboratories equipped with powerful research teams. The team even includes chemists and geologists. All Rolex timepieces are assembled part by part by experts in Swiss factories. A watch usually takes a year to complete and undergoes hundreds of tests.

3, Value retention
There is a saying in the watch circle: those who know the most about watches and those who know the least both love Rolex. Rolex is one of the watch brands that best retains its value. Rolex's stainless steel material is harder than ordinary 316L stainless steel, and coupled with a screw-down case back and multi-layer waterproof gaskets on the crown, the watch is more scratch-resistant and moisture-resistant. Over time, barring man-made collisions, it will look newer than average watches, hence its higher value retention. Furthermore, Rolex has not changed its designs drastically over the years and is very fond of precious metals, 18K gold, white gold, rose gold, etc. Coupled with simple watch styles without overly complex designs, the price essentially equates to the cost of the materials.
4, Prestige
In China, no watch brand has higher recognition than Rolex; even primary school students know that if you collect watches, you play with Rolex. Many wealthy individuals purchase Rolex one after another, wanting to buy a watch that everyone recognises. High prestige is synonymous with Rolex, and films frequently feature scenarios where Rolex symbolises status and wealth.
Written in closing, many young people nowadays mistakenly believe that Rolex is a watch worn by "nouveau riche". This is a misconception. Although Rolex is not the watch with the most functions nor the most fashionable, it is second to none in terms of quality and stability.
