大型飛行員腕錶自 2002 年起一直是 IWC 的旗艦錶款。真品搭載 IWC 自製 51111 機芯——歷史上最大的自動上鍊機芯之一——結合了 IWC 經時間考驗的機械製錶工藝。目前它是全球最大的自動上鍊機芯，能在短時間內產生 8.5 天的動力儲存。然而，隨著發條鬆弛，驅動機芯的扭矩也會減小，這會降低擺輪的振幅與精準度。因此，當機芯在未上鍊的情況下運行滿 7 天後，另一個精密的小型機制會自動停止機芯運作，以維持絕對的走時精準度。
