Are regular servicing and overhauls always good? Not necessarily

watch servicing
generally speaking, to extend the service life of a watch, it is commonly recommended to3-5overhaul it every year.
but in real life, many people treat their beloved watches by10not overhauling them for many years, yet their watches still operate normally.
therefore my opinion is that if the watch functions completely normally, regular servicing is unnecessary.then someone will surely raise the question, if it is not serviced regularly, will it affect the lifespan of the watch.actually we do not need to worry too much, because watches are just like people, when they truly need servicing, there will certainly be some symptoms as a reminder.
and based on my many years of experience, when a properly running watch exhibits the following conditions, it needs an overhaul:
1the watch suddenly runs fast or slow(excluding magnetisation and a tangled balance spring);
2occasional stopping;
3reduced winding efficiency;
4abnormal sounds heard when listening to the movement;
5a decrease in power reserve duration;
6manual winding5and other running issues with the watch.
If the above occurs and you still do not service the watch, it will cause damage!
Conclusion: The service interval for a watch should be based on the specific timepiece, operating conditions, and environment. Following a rigid schedule for servicing is neither economical nor scientific.
