Cartier introduces the Ronde Louis Cartier filigree-flame panther decorative watch

　　Cartier has added the flame-gold technique to its Metiers d'Art collection, creating the Ronde Louis Cartier Panther watch, which features a lustre akin to enamel and detail as vivid as miniature painting, opening a new frontier in watchmaking craftsmanship.

　　The flamed gold technique is inspired by the blued steel process, which changes the colour of metal surfaces through heat; it requires precise control of the flame. Various colours emerge as the temperature changes, with blue corresponding to the highest temperature and beige to the lowest. The master artisan first engraves or 'draws' the intricate panther fur pattern onto the 18K gold dial, then heats the gold dial with a flame. The first colour appears, and this process must be repeated until the richest and most complete colour effect is achieved. This technique demands not only delicate and precise handling but also unwavering judgement. Each colour continues to change during the heating process, and the slightest error could ruin the entire piece.

　　Cartier's master artisans must maintain absolute focus and meticulous attention to detail to achieve the final, stunning result: a deep and rich overall tone, with subtle transitions from beige to brown. From the panther's ears to its nose, every detail is lifelike, and the lustre of the panther's fur complements the apple-shaped hands. Cartier has set the bezel with baguette-cut diamonds, allowing this superb craftsmanship to shine with brilliance.
