This is a chronograph watch. The central seconds hand (stopped at the 12 o'clock position) is the chronograph seconds hand. The 3 o'clock position is the chronograph minutes hand (it jumps one space for every full rotation of the central seconds hand). The 6 o'clock position is the chronograph hours hand, and the small sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position represents the seconds hand (running continuously).
